CRUISE INSTALLMENT II : KEY WEST

Our stop at Key West was fairly rainy. We walked around the town area and then we rented bikes and rode around the island. That was awesome! We rode through neighborhoods and on a bike trail on the shoreline. It felt great to get some exercise and be away from the crowds; plus, we got to see most of the island away from the ship. The craziest part of our biking journey was seeing 9-10 huge iguanas just walking around in the grass. Man, renting bikes was a brilliant move, whoever thought of that (me). 

We rode to the supposed best beach on Key West and it was pretty, but rocky. We were expecting that though....we spent a lot of time on Trip Advisor on the months leading up to our cruise haha. 

This is the port where we disembarked from the ship and walked around the shops. The town was cute and quaint and whatnot, but neither of us really felt like shopping. Souvenir shops are kind of the same anywhere you go, right?

One cool place we visited was Fort Zachary. Because it was a drizzly and far away from the port, we were the only people there.

All in all, Key West was a really fun, adventurous, wet, tropical stop. We made several trips back to the ship for food or clothing changes. The only negative thing about the day was that we were incredibly sore. I don't know who designed that bike seat, but it was wrong. I thought my rear end would be permanently bruised! Plus, on one outing, we thought it would be smart to just wear our swimsuits so it wouldn't matter if we got rained on. That was a horrible idea. Walking around in a wet swimsuit for hours was painful on the skin. 

We did some fun ship activities that night: Ping-pong tournament, foosball tournament, outdoor movie, and a really good show in the theater. It was a comedian/juggler and that was the best show we went to all week. The ping-pong tournament was over pretty quickly because there was one Asian lady who destroyed everyone. However, Tim and I conquered our opponents in the foosball tournament (Ryan and Richard know how that goes). Alright fine, it was two 9 year old boys; they were the only other people who showed up. We did actually legitimately win something during the week but more on that later.....
